Macaroons by Donna Hay

When I made macaroons for the first time, I didn't pass so I made them for the second time on the 26th of March. This time to make macaroons, I used Donna Hay's making macaroons box which contains all the ingredients in it and the instructions.

A macaroon is basically a sweet meringue based confectionery made with eggs, icing sugar, granulated sugar and ground almonds. It is commonly filled with Ganache, buttercream or a jam filling. It can be found in a wide variety of flavours. I filled my macaroons with a chocolate ganache which required chocolate and cream.

From my experience of making macaroons, I think that they have a very easy recipe but they are very hard to get right. The temperature, the consistency, it all matters a lot. But even though I passed and my 10 dishes are over, I will make macaroons again until I get it perfect.

Marble Cake by Rachel Allen

On the 17th of march I made my tenth and final dish which was Marble cake. I used Rcahel Allen's recipe to make it. Marble cake is a cake with a streaked or marbled appearance which is achieved very lightly blending light and dark batter. Normally vanilla and chocolate. The ingredients used are very easy to get.

To get the marble like texture, first you have to make the vanilla cake batter and then divide the batter into 2. Next you have to add the cocoa powder into one of them. To prepare the tin, the spoon the 2 mixtures alternatively and then gently make swirls through the mixture.

Making it was a lot of fun, specially doing the marbling effect. The main problem in the dish was that the chocolate parts in the cake were dry and not so tasty, but the vanilla part was amazing and also the cake looked really nice.

Cheesecake By Nigella Lawson

Yesterday, in the afternoon I decided to make my ninth dish. I had chosen my recipe since a week now and finally I made it yesterday. I chose Nigella Lawson's recipe for this dish.

Cheesecake is a dessert consisting primarily of a mixture of soft and fresh cheese, sugar and eggs. It is often spooned on a crust made from hard biscuit crumbs, pastry or sponge cake. It may be baked or also unbaked. It can have various toppings and flavours.

My recipe was a filtered and an easier version of the normal cheesecake and it consisted of very few ingredients.

The experience was fairly new to me as I have never made a cheesecake before. It was quite exciting and easy to do. I was never really fond of the idea of cheesecakes until recently when i tried a cheesecake in a cafe called big chill and since then I wanted to make it myself. After making it, I had to let it set for a minimum of 3 hours.

Molten Chocolate Babycakes by Nigella Lawson

On the 26th of February, I was browsing through Nigella Lawson's website to search for my next dish and I came upon this recipe. There was an immediate temptation to eat this after looking at the picture posted beside the recipe. It was of 2 small cakes and chocolate lava oozing out from one of them. I HAD to make it now.

Molten chocolate cakes look like cakes but when you break it apart, lush chocolate lava flows out. It is extraordinary. When you think about it, it's confusing because you baked them but it still has a liquid center.

This was an easy recipe, not to time consuming and easy to follow. When I was going to dig into mine, I was really scared if the lava will come out or not, but it did. The cakes were a success and I highly recommend you guys to make this.

Chocolate Soufflé by Gordan Ramsy

Last weekend I made chocolate souffle from Gordan Ramsy's recipe. It was a new experience for me and a very enjoyable one at that. A souffle is a lightly baked cake made with egg yolks and beaten with egg whites combines with various other ingredients and served as a savory main dish or sweetened as a dessert. It is derived from France, a french creme patissiere base/flavored cream sauce or puree and egg whites beaten to a soft peak meringue. The Ingredients were:

It was fun to make this and to see how the different ingredients worked together. Especially the corn flour with heated milk, the reaction was (I shouldnt be using this word) weird. All in all I think I shall experiment with different flavors of souffle.

Nothing really went wrong except the texture was little on the liquid side and it should have been in between solid and liquid. I think 2 more minutes in the oven should have done the trick but oh well...

Tiramisu from allrecipes.com

Last thursday, which was 31st of January I made Tiramisu. Tiramisu is an Italian dessert. It is made of ladyfingers dipped in coffee, layered with a whipped mixture of egg yolks and mascerpone cheese, and flavored with cocoa. The creation of the cake was originated in the city of Siena. Some confectioners were said to have created it in honor of Cosimo III on the occasion of his visit to the country.

I always had Tiramisu in restaurants and could've never imagined to make it on my own, but when I did I was surprised by how easy it was. The experience was as amazing as the taste. I loved it. The only thing I found a challenge was getting a few ingredients. There were 2 ingredients that I couldn't find in any local supermarket so I had to order it from some bakery far away. But keeping that away it was Fab.

Chocolate chip muffins by Laura Vitale

Yesterday I made chocolate chip muffins by Laura Vitale. It was the simplest recipe ever. After collecting the simple but fabulous ingredients it took me no longer than 30 minutes to be ready with them. These were the ingredients:

and after 30 mins....

Overall I was very confident about this recipe and it turned out pretty good, the only thing I didn't like about it was that there were just too many chocolate chips... though my friend only liked it because there were many but still. The marks are as follows:
